Campus Recreation works to empower students to strive for health and wellness while maintaining a sense of balance. Achieving and sustaining wellness is an active and dynamic process which involves becoming aware of and taking steps toward a healthier, happier, and more satisfying life. The student wellness program focuses on Healthy Campus 2020 and the 8 dimensions of wellness to inform program offerings.

With six unique facilities offering numerous activities, Campus Recreation ensures that everyone can find a way to both have fun and stay active year-round.

Activities and Recreation Center (ARC)
Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) offers members the opportunity to rock climb, swim in an Olympic-sized pool, get a professional massage, and learn new ways to cook healthy meals. With wireless internet access throughout the building, Courtside Café providing refreshments and available members services, including locker rooms and equipment rentals, the ARC is your all-inclusive facility for a healthy and active lifestyle.

Campus Recreation Center East (CRCE)
Campus Recreation Center East (CRCE) is the newest facility in the Campus Recreation family. Complete with a waterslide, 12-person spa, sundeck and waterfall, the newly renovated aquatics center provides members and guests with a fun time year-round. The facility also comes with a multi-activity court that allows visitors to play an assortment of games, including indoor soccer, roller hockey and floor hockey. Like the ARC, CRCE also offers and indoor track, racquetball courts, conditioning machines, and weights, providing members with even more resources to get active!

Ice Arena
The Ice Arena is available for students and community members to visit and participate in many activities, including, free skating, learn-to-skate classes, hockey classes and leagues. The Ice arena is also home to the Illini Club Hockey Team, which brings in a high-energy crowd every home game. Whether you are new to skates or skilled on the froze pond, the Ice Arena offers activities for everyone.

Complex FieldsOutdoor Center Fields, & Illini Grove
The Complex Fields, Outdoor Center Fields, and Illini Grove are the outdoor facilities that complete the Campus Recreation family. Between the three, they provide the areas to participate in over a dozen different activities, including basketball, tennis, baseball, soccer, and sand volleyball. At Illini Grove, visitors are also able to host picnics and other outdoor events by renting their outdoor pavilion, which comes complete with a grill and tables.

Adventure Recreation
Climbing and Adventure Recreation provides members with the opportunity to explore unique recreation activities such as rock climbing, log rolling and scuba diving. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Campus Recreation has everything that you need to enjoy one of these fun and active programs, including outdoor recreation equipment rentals.

Aquatics
Aquatics offers opportunities for people of all ages in water fitness and education. Members can sign up for programs such as learn-to-swim classes and lifeguard certification courses, or simply come and enjoy the facilities that Campus Recreation offers.

Campus Bike Center
Campus Bike Center is dedicated to empowering individuals with knowledge about how to repair and maintain bicycles and encouraging mode-shift away from single-occupancy vehicles. By empowering people with the ability to fix a bicycle and providing a connection between the campus and the community, the Bike Center promotes bicycling, collaboration, and community spirit.

Club Sports
Club Sports consists of over 30 different teams that promote physical activity, camaraderie and leadership for members of campus Recreation. Club Sports offers students the opportunity to run their own club, including organizing its members, meetings and practices. Some clubs are even able to compete at an elite level.

Group Fitness
Group Fitness allows members to participate in organized fitness classes with others who share their motivation and desire to life a healthy and active lifestyle. With opportunities to participate year-round, Group Fitness is a great way to stay active, have fun and meet new people.

Ice Skating
Ice Skating activities are available for all ages and skills. Whether you are new to skating or a pro, the Ice Arena has a program for you including learn-to skate classes and hockey leagues. You can also stop by during public skate times to participate in public skate.

Intramural Activities
Intramural Activities offer students the chance to participate in their favorite team activities and enjoy some healthy competition. With 16 different activities to choose from, campus Recreation makes it easy for students to play with their friends or sign up for free agency. Extreme Dodgeball, Innertube Water Polo and 6-on-6 Sand Volleyball are just a few of the many options.

Open Recreation
Open Recreation provides members with the space to participate in activities of their choosing, both indoor and outdoor. From table tennis, rugby, racquetball, lap swimming and basketball, Campus Recreation offers members the chance to reserve areas across campus to play their favorite recreation activities. Need someone to play with? Campus Recreation’s Match Board makes it easy to find someone who shares your interest in these activities.

Personal Training
Personal Training allows members to maximize their workout and get a customized fitness plan . Campus Recreation’s personal training staff is ready to help you to achieve your health and fitness goals and learn about the many components of a healthy lifestyle.

Student Wellness

Orange & Blue Wellness Zone
The Orange & Blue Zone is an 8-week holistic wellness program providing Illinois students with the tools and skills to navigate healthy lifestyle choices. Wellness Workshops
Wellness Workshops are interactive programs designed to engage, educate, and motivate students to live their healthiest lives. After attending a workshop, it is our hope that participants have the blueprint to incorporate the skills learned into their lives. Learn more about Wellness Workshops.

Fitness Education

Students can meet one-on-one with a fitness health educator to learn about developing an exercise plan, strength equipment demonstrations and personal fitness assessments including body composition, resting heart rate, blood pressure, and strength and flexibility measurements. Fitness workshops are available upon request.

Online Relaxation Exercises

Relaxation techniques are an important tool in reducing daily stress. The exercises provided here are short, effective ways to refresh your mind and body, offering increased energy levels which leads to greater productivity. When performed regularly, relaxation exercises can have noticeable effects on your stress levels and mood.
