We know there is a great deal of uncertainty and this can cause anxiety. If you wish to consult about assisting a student you’re concerned about, please call at 217-333-3704. After business hours, the Rosecrance Crisis Line is available at 217-359-4141.
Suicide Prevention Team
Any individual (friend, relative, faculty, residence hall staff) can notify the Suicide Prevention Team, 217-333-3704, if a student they know makes a suicidal threat or attempt and is no longer in imminent danger.

If there is an emergency that involves an imminent risk of harm to self or others, please contact campus police at 217-333-1216 or dial 911 BEFORE filling out this form. Referrals are reviewed during normal business hours and are not monitored after hours. This form is not designed for emergency response situations.
Consult About a Student in Distress
Students in distress are among those in our community who can greatly benefit from various forms of personal help. Mental health professionals, school administrators, and security personnel are active participants in university communities, but when these specifically trained individuals are not present when a distressing situation occurs, such as in a dining hall, classroom, residence hall, or other campus location, there are ways you can help a student in distress.

The emergency dean supports students who are experiencing health or safety emergency situations when an immediate university response is needed and cannot wait until the next business day. The emergency dean is not a substitute for trained emergency personnel such as 911, police, or fire professionals.
How to Reach the Emergency Dean: Individuals wishing to contact the emergency dean should call the University of Illinois Police Department (UIPD) Dispatch at 217-333-1216. UIPD Personnel will be able to reach the emergency dean as appropriate.
Refer a Student to the Office of the Dean of Students
Students, faculty, staff, parents, and others are strongly encouraged to report behaviors they feel are concerning or worrisome. Submit through this form.
Embedded Counselors
Counseling Center clinicians are housed in a specific department or college of the university. Embedded counselors primarily offer counseling services to students within the department or college they serve. In so doing, they are able to better understand the unique needs of students in the areas where they are based. Research indicates students feel more comfortable with and find it more convenient to see someone in their own academic unit or residence hall.
